Privacy Policy

Yuzu Health respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we handle and why.
The short version
- You sign in with Apple, Google, or an email magic link to use Yuzu Health.
- Your scan history syncs across your devices and is protected by row-level access — only you can read it.
- We don't sell your data. We don't track your location. We don't show ads.
What we collect
When you scan a product: the photo you capture or the barcode you point at, the product name and ingredients we identify, and a timestamp.
Your account: an opaque identifier from Apple, Google, or the email address you sent a magic link to. Passwords are never used or stored — magic-link sign-in is the only way to authenticate by email.
Anonymous usage data: for every scan we log technical info like whether it succeeded, how long it took, and which scan mode was used. This is not linked to your account or any persistent device ID.
We do not collect: location, contacts, health records, photos other than ones you actively scan, advertising IDs, or browsing history.
Who we share it with
We use third-party services to make Yuzu Health work. Each one only receives what's necessary:
- AI service providers (AI vision providers, AI language providers) — receive the photo you scanned and ingredient names so they can identify and describe ingredients. They do not receive your account info.
- Product data sources (public product databases, public reference sources, web search providers) — receive the barcode or product name you're looking up.
- Cloud infrastructure (our cloud infrastructure provider) — stores your account info, product cache, and anonymous telemetry.
- Authentication providers (Apple, Google) — handle sign-in. We receive only the minimum needed to identify your account.
- Subscription verification (our subscription verification provider, when paid features ship) — verifies your subscription status with Apple/Google. Anonymous to them.
- Crash reporting (our crash reporting service) — receives anonymous error reports to help us fix bugs.
We don't share data with advertisers.
Your choices
- View your full scan history in the History tab.
- Clear history in Settings (wipes device and cloud).
- Sign out anytime in Settings.
EU/UK users: GDPR rights apply (access, correction, deletion, portability, complaint to your data protection authority).
Children
Yuzu Health is intended for users 9 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we update this policy, the "Last updated" date changes. Material changes will be shown in the app.
