A food scanner for spotting hidden sugar
Sugar hides under dozens of names and turns up in food that does not taste sweet. Yuzu makes it a barcode scan: spot the hidden sugar, and see it priced into the score, so you can compare products quickly. This is a general food scanner, not medical advice.
Not medical advice. Yuzu is not a medical device and cannot manage diabetes for you. It does not count carbs for insulin dosing or replace blood-glucose monitoring. Talk to your doctor or dietitian about your own targets.
How the sugar checker works
Scan a barcode and Yuzu reads the ingredients and nutrition. Sugar feeds into a 0–100 health score alongside salt and saturated fat, so a high-sugar product scores lower. Sugar that hides under other names, such as glucose-fructose syrup, dextrose or maltose, still appears in the ingredient list in plain English, so it is harder to slip past you.
Why sugar is not flagged like a chemical
Yuzu deliberately keeps additive risk separate from bulk-nutrient quantity. Sugar is a quantity question, so it is priced through the nutrition part of the score by how much is in the product, rather than getting a hazardous-chemical warning. A gram of sugar in a yoghurt and a gram in a cola are the same molecule; what matters is how much. How Yuzu works.
